Customisable MarkUp layouts, drawings to video and server storage warnings
Piston 9.98 is a large update covering MarkUps, cuts, Composer, qualifiers, scoreboards and storage warnings.
🎨 MarkUps
- Customise layouts. Change opacity, position, marker width and height, text wrapping, and fit across the screen.
- Save layouts. Save a custom layout and apply it to other MarkUps.
- Stays available. MarkUps remain visible and usable in fullscreen and when the video timeline is hidden.
🏷️ Markers and cuts
- Cut icon on markers. Markers that already have a cut now show it.
- Choose what to do with an existing cut. When you swipe to cut a marker that already has one, you can jump to the existing cut, create another, or re-cut and replace it.
- N shortcut in fullscreen. Press N to create a Note Marker while in fullscreen.
🎬 Composer and drawings
- Import into Composer directly from the Imports and Drawings archives.
- Convert drawings to video, with a setting for how long the video lasts.
- Auto-send cuts to your Composer. A new setting sends every cut to the Session Default Composer as it is created.
📋 Qualifier lists
- Adaptive layout. Qualifier lists adapt to the screen space available and show more qualifiers. You can switch this off in settings.
- Search. Large qualifier lists now have a search bar.
🏟️ Scoreboard overlay
- Burn the scoreboard into a session. Works with Piston Server software 898 or later. Camera Profiles with a scoreboard show a scoreboard icon in the Start Session menu, and you can enable Burn Scoreboard Overlay when you start a session.
- Customise before you start. Choose a saved scoreboard and edit the team names.
💾 Server storage warnings
- Clearer warnings. Tap a storage warning for more information and the option to dismiss it.
- They return as space runs out. A dismissed warning reappears at 80%, 90%, 95% and 98% full. At 98% it can no longer be dismissed.
🔨 Improved
- Qualifiers are returned and sent to the server in the order you entered them.
- Better handling of Auto Imports when you open the Imports section just after a file lands in the server’s Imports folder.
- Improved look and behaviour of the Add to Composer menu, plus general interface improvements.
🐛 Fixed
- Slow motion with a drawing on screen ignored the setting to remove drawings when playback resumes.
- The Magnifying Glass drawing showed a black image.
- On macOS, sending several cuts to Amplify without concatenating was wrongly available.
- The Piston Streamer camera button was missing on iPadOS in portrait mode.
- Long pressing a line or arrow drawing did not open the Edit Drawing menu unless the drag handles were pressed.
- The Note entry button said “Skip” instead of “Submit”.
- The Drawing Edit menu did not save or show the current settings correctly, and changing a text box colour had no effect. Drawing settings and editing are now handled more reliably across drawing types.
